What are you Choosing to do Today?

choices

Choices you make today, are the choices you make for your present and for your future self at 30, 40, 50, 65, 85, etc. So ask yourself what do you want at this time in your life and what are the needs and wants of the Future you? It's important to remember that actions now have a ripple effect.

With time and life experiences the wants and needs of the "Future You" will change but core needs will probably not.  For example, basic human needs like independence and financial security will not change. So, do you think that you should be responsible and accountable to the Future You when you make important life decisions?
Some people might say “no” because who knows what the future will be, and you may not even have a future in 40 years.
Regardless of your opinion, the fact is you're indirectly creating your future reality today with:
 - your thought/thinking and feeling (like fear and fun/passion/excitement
 - taking actions (choices)
 - habits like spending money, nutrition and exercise.

Some examples of life decisions that affect the Future you are:

1.    Getting a drivers' license - what would you say to the 80 year old who lives alone and can't go out and buy coffee or 40 year old that missed a Black Friday shopping or every morning has to stand at a bus stop in minus 10 degrees.
2.    You gave up too soon on your dreams and 40 year old is now stuck in a low paying job she/he hates.
3.    Developed bad habits like excessive alcohol consumption and spending money that can bring hardship to the Future you in middle life perhaps.
With self-analysis, you can consciously make choices by realizing who you are which will help you determine what you want and need and why you do what you do. You will learn about your fears, your passions/interests, your beliefs about yourself and the world, your talents and weaknesses (ie. maybe you have tendency to be impulsive and choose what is easy and comfortable now). Doing this work, you might find courage within you to challenge yourself to expand your thinking and creating a more fulfilling life for yourself and that also supports other people that depend on you.

When you make life decisions more consciously, you have awareness of the consequences of your choices that are bad or good.
